Express Checkout Buttons are designed to streamline the checkout process, making it quicker and more convenient for customers to complete their purchases.

At the moment Shopify supports the following third-party accelerated checkout methods:

  • Amazon Pay

  • Apple Pay

  • Google Pay

  • PayPal

  • Shop Pay

  • Venmo.

Each of these methods has specific requirements before they display as branded buttons. For more details on how to enable these methods, you can visit this Shopify Dynamic Checkout guide.

How to add Express checkout buttons to Cart Drawer?

1. Activate Payment providers:

To display Express Checkout buttons on your storefront, you must first activate the corresponding Payment Providers in your store’s payment settings. Without activating these, the buttons will not appear to customers. To learn how to enable these providers, visit this Shopify Dynamic Checkout guide.

2. Enable Express checkout in Cart Drawer settings

Go to your Cart Drawer settings in the Cartly app and check the box for Express Checkout Buttons. This will activate the display of Express or Accelerated checkout buttons in the cart drawer.

3. Customize Express checkout button display

In your Cart Drawer settings, you can:

  • Set the maximum number of Express Checkout buttons to display in a row.

  • Select specific payment buttons to preview within the cart drawer.

4. Check the buttons on the storefront

After enabling and customizing the buttons, visit your storefront to verify that the Express checkout buttons are displaying correctly. Ensure that the payment methods you activated are visible and working as expected.

Factors Affecting Button Display

The type of dynamic checkout button that appears depends on:

  • Your store's payment settings.

  • Whether Shop Promise is active (prioritizes Shop Pay over other methods).

  • The customer’s browser and device type.

  • The customer’s previous payment history

This setup ensures your customers see the most convenient checkout methods, streamlining their purchasing experience.
