π Empty cart recommendations
Cartly now lets you turn an empty cart into a discovery moment. A new Empty cart recommendations tab has been added to the Upsell section, allowing you to display product suggestions β personalized or curated β right inside the cart drawer when it's empty.
Recommendation types
Choose from six recommendation strategies depending on your store's needs:
π Recently viewed: Shows products the customer viewed earlier in their current session.
π Specific collections: You select which collections to feature. Random products from those collections are shown.
π Specific products: Precise product selection β including individual variants of a product.
π Redirect to collections: Shows collection images and names. Clicking takes the customer to that collection page.
β¨ Smart recommendations (when available)
If smart recommendations aren't available for a session, Cartly falls back to your selected standard recommendation type. Includes Abandoned cart and Recently purchased sub-options β see below.
Variant-level selection: When using Specific products, you can now select individual variants β not just the product as a whole. This also applies to the Upsell feature.
Abandoned cart & recently purchased
Two additional options are available under Smart recommendations:
Abandoned cart: shows products left in the customer's cart from their last session. Available for all customers with stored cart data.
Recently purchased: suggests items the customer has bought before. Available for logged-in customers only.

Preview: Selecting Empty cart recommendations in the left menu automatically switches the Cartly preview to show the empty cart state β including the Reward bar (if configured for empty carts) and all enabled recommendation blocks, centered inside the Cart Drawer.
